As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist, I see couples, families, and individuals. I work closely with my clients as they navigate relational changes such as loss of intimacy/sexual concerns, emotional distance, betrayal, family conflict, parenting concerns, separation, divorce, and blended-family issues. I encourage clients to openly talk about their feelings while constructively working toward greater closeness and intimacy with their loved ones. I believe that the quality of the relationship between therapist and client(s) is the foundation for gratifying therapeutic growth and change; I offer a confidential and safe environment for this.

My clinical interests include relationship issues, family conflict, sexuality, infidelity, separation, divorce, new parent stress and adjustment, sibling rivalry, parenting concerns, remarriage and blended-family issues. Additional clinical interests include anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, work-life balance, and stress management.

I have a passion for doing therapy with parents, and moms in particular. I understand the unique complexities that all moms face, including working moms, stay-at-home-moms, stepmoms, moms-to-be, and the many other variations of motherhood. I believe that women face extraordinary challenges as they navigate family life and motherhood, and for this reason we need extra care and attention. I offer flexible hours to accommodate all moms. New moms are welcome to bring their newborns to session.

I have specialized training in providing LGBTQIA affirmative therapy. I make sure to keep up with this training in order to stay informed of the changing needs within our community, current identity politics, and evidence-based clinical interventions. I recognize the unique needs of my LGBTQIA clients, especially my clients who are transgender, gender non-conforming, gender fluid, and non-binary. My work is inclusive and supportive of straight, same sex, and mixed orientation couples, as well as polyamorous relationships, consensual non-monogamy, and kink communities. My approach is warm, caring, and nonjudgmental.

I hold a master's degree in philosophy, ethics, and cultural anthropology from Oregon State University and I hold a master's degree in clinical counseling/marriage and family therapy from LaSalle University. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of NJ with more than a decade and a half of experience. I completed my sex therapy certification at Modern Sex Therapy Institutes where I had the privilege of training with many of the current experts and scholars in the field, including Esther Perel, Emily Nagoski, Barry McCarthy, Marty Klein, and Laurie Mintz. I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and a Professional Member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
I am a graduate of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at the Myrna Brind Center for Mindfulness at Jefferson University and often incorporate work on mindfulness with my clients. My clinical experience includes working in psychiatric settings, school-based counseling centers, community mental health clinics, and private practice. My research interests include the person-of-therapist training model, self-care and mindfulness, attachment relationships, sexual intimacy and differentiation, the tension between maintaining love and desire in long term relationships, and multi-generational relationship patterns within family systems.

In my free time I love being with my family more than anything else, especially at the beach. Date nights are extra special and a lot of fun. As much as I adore my family, I am quite introverted and enjoy spending time alone. I read A LOT of books and I binge-watch A LOT of TV. I like being immersed in stories and enamored with characters. Music is everything to me and soothes my soul, as does movement. Being active is extremely important for my mental health. I regularly take Pilates classes and I have been practicing for over fifteen years. I work hard on maintaining a meditation and yoga practice, neither of which are easy for me, but I try my best and I do enjoy it. However, my favorite way to move is good old fashioned walks in the fresh air, rain or shine, unless the weather is really bad and then I walk on my treadmill with my Kindle.
